Hey there, I am

Zhongchi (Leo) Li

Thanks for stopping by!

I am a self-driven and curious learner not afraid to take on challenges. Outside of work and school, I seek new opportunities to grow and learn more to expand my skillset. In the past years, I have taught myself web development from scratch and completed over 600 hours of online learning materials.

Frontend Developer @ Hack the North ⚙️

Hack the North is a student-run organization at the University of Waterloo, bringing the biggest hackathon in Canada to hackers all over the world! Since joining the team as a frontend developer in March 2022, I have helped to build many web frontends such as the April Fool's site, the main website, and the hacker application website.

Artist 👨🏻‍🎨

Drawing is my oldest hobby and I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. It is also the source of my passion for design. You can check out my other drawings and read about my insights over at Behance.

Musician 🎷

Choosing to play the alto saxophone and join the school band in Grade 6 was one of the best decisions I have made. That sparked my passion for music led me to meet so many amazing people in high school. Not only was I able to play so much amazing music, but I was also honored to play with my school band at Carnegie Hall, New York City, and performed solo parts in 2019. Additionally, we were thrilled to receive Band Performance Award for our performance.

Fashion Designer 👕

My brother and I put our passion for art and fashion into action and created our own clothing brand, Meraki District, in the winter of 2016. We designed a variety of hoodies, t-shirts, and hats and sold over 400 products to people all over the GTA. From hand-drawing designs to producing the products, photographing, marketing, and connecting with customers, we handled every step as a two-man team. You can check out our designs on Instagram @merakidistrictclothing.

Home Cook 👨🏻‍🍳

I first started cooking I was 8 and I have unlocked my mother's chef genes in me ever since. Even before the pandemic has started, I have always loved learning new recipes with my family and cooking foods that we never thought could be cooked at home. After the pandemic has started, we have cooked dishes like Coconut Curry, Bibimbap, Pho Noodles, Omurice, Gamjatang, Unadon, and more.

Gunpla Builder 🤖

Building Gunpla (Gundam Plastic Model Kits) is an ancient hobby of mine and has just been reawakened after quarantined started. I enjoy every aspect of a Gunpla except for the price tag. Other than that, the process of building it, customizing it, posing it, taking absolutely sick pictures of it, all give me pure satisfaction. Plus, they can sit on my bookshelf looking badass all day every day.
